Recommended Resources

I often get asked what tools, plugins, and themes I use and recommend. Below is a list of the various products and services I use on WordPress blogging projects. Some of these may be affiliate links but I would recommend them anyway even without a commission. You can read my affiliate discloser for more details.

Website Hosting

GreenGeeks

GreenGeeks is he only hosting company I use for projects. They are economical, have excellent customer service, and they are also focused on being environmentally friendly. The site you are on now is hosted by GreenGeeks.

Page Builder

Elementor Pro

The Elementor page builder has taken WordPress by storm. Its simple drag -and-drop interface makes designing stunning pages a breeze. There is a free version but the Pro version includes way more features at a small price.

Theme

Astra Pro

If I need a theme the first one we look at is Astra. It’s lightweight so it won’t slow down your website with bloated code. It works well with Elementor page builder and it’s very flexible. There is a free version in the WordPress repository but the Pro plugin that goes with it expands your design possibilities.

Form Builder

Gravity Forms

Gravity Forms is my go-to form builder. It’s easy to learn, flexible and extendable with several plugins. Just about any kind of form you may need can be built with Gravity Forms. It’s not the cheapest form builder but it’s the best in my opinion.

Backup Service

I use ManageWP to backup all my sites as well as my client sites. For a small monthly fee (about $3 a month) they will back up your site nightly. In the event you need to use a backup it only takes about 2 clicks in their interface and your site is restored. They offer other services too like security scans and dead link checking. It’s owned by GoDaddy so you know it’s well supported. It’s great piece of mind to know that your sites are backed up nightly.
